How can
the Good Life Lab
Help You?
Hello Again, I'm Dr. Dave.
After decades as a therapist, educator, and global adventurer, I created The Good Life Lab to help others enhance well-being while also navigating life’s challenges.
Hopefully, I won't alienate anyone looking for direction, but one of my main goals is to support men—especially gay, bisexual, and straight men - who are wondering:
Who am I, really?
Where am I headed?
What do I want out of life?
What does it mean to live a full and meaningful life?
At the core of my work is the Good Life Positioning System (GLPS)—a framework I developed to help men clarify their direction, purpose, and identity by designing what I call a Good Life Project. This isn’t about reinventing yourself into someone new. It’s about understanding and becoming yourself more fully. The GLPS integrates your strengths, passions, needs, personality traits, and core values to help you live with greater meaning, alignment, and freedom.
Perhaps you, like many of the men I have worked with, are at a crossroads:
-
You may feel directionless, stuck in relationships, or old patterns of silence and self-doubt.
-
You may be questioning your sexuality or rethinking long-held spiritual beliefs.
-
Or maybe you're just craving a deeper, truer, more grounded way to live—with real connection, emotional clarity, and purpose.
I get it—because I’ve lived it.
Though I hold a Ph.D. in Counseling, an M.A. in Theology, and multiple professional certifications, my real education came through the work of confronting my own fears, wounds, and truths.
That journey included:
-
Coming out as a gay man in midlife, after decades of hiding,
-
Losing my religious certainty and rebuilding my sense of spirituality,
-
Facing depression, dating for the first time in my 40s, and starting over—professionally, emotionally, and relationally,
-
Completing a yearlong circumnavigation of the globe where I trekked to Everest Base Camp, volunteered with the UN World Food Program, and fasted alone in the wilderness on a vision quest.
Over 30 years, I’ve learned how to navigate these turning points with intentional reflection and purposeful direction. The GLPS is the roadmap I wish I had—and now I offer it to you.
At The Good Life Lab, I combine compassion with challenge. Whether you're gay, bi, curious, or simply exploring a new chapter, I offer tools and insights to help you:
-
Clarify who you are and what matters most,
-
Build a life filled with purpose, connection and freedom,
-
Navigate spiritual transitions or questions around faith and identity,
-
Create a path forward that’s unique to you and deeply personal.
While my work centers around the needs of men exploring well-being, meaning, and identity, it’s open to anyone who feels drawn to the journey of living more courageously, intentionally, and authentically.
So, with the tips and techniques provided here, and a little curiosity and experimentation on your part, a more meaningful and even remarkable, good life could be waiting to be discovered.

I have collaborated with individuals from the following corporations and organizations on personal, professional and well-being issues.
